Charles Tyrwhitt vs Brooks Brothers Shirt Sizing
Your collar size carries over between the two brands. The word "Slim" doesn't.
Both brands size dress shirts by collar and sleeve, so those numbers mean the same thing at either one. Charles Tyrwhitt's "Slim" is its regular fit, though. Brooks Brothers' "Slim" is a real slim.

Charles Tyrwhitt
Charles Tyrwhitt sells four fits: Classic, Slim, Extra Slim and Super Slim. It describes Classic as roomy through the shoulders and chest, and Slim as its most popular regular fit, tapering gently at the waist.
Its body chart is the same for every fit. A 15.5 collar is listed for a chest up to 40" and a waist up to 34". The fit you choose changes how much shirt sits around that body.
Sleeves come in single inch lengths, and it offers shortening by up to 3".
Brooks Brothers, compared with Regent fit
How much smaller or bigger each fit is cut at the chest and waist, as Brooks Brothers publishes it.
| Fit | Chest | Waist |
|---|---|---|
| Soho Extra Slim | −5 in | −5 in |
| Milano Slim | −2¾ in | −1½ in |
| Regent Regular | Baseline | Baseline |
| Madison Relaxed | +2½ in | +3¼ in |
| Traditional Extra Relaxed | +5 in | +5 in |
Brooks Brothers' body chart lists a 15.5 collar with a 39" to 40" chest.
How to pick between them
Start with your collar and sleeve, which carry over. Then choose the fit by how your chest and waist compare: a big drop from chest to waist points to the slimmer fits, a straighter build to the roomier ones.
If neither brand's chart matches your chest and waist at your collar size, no fit name will fix it. That's what a custom shirt is for.
Questions
Is Charles Tyrwhitt slim fit the same as Brooks Brothers slim fit?
No. Charles Tyrwhitt calls its regular, most popular fit "Slim." Brooks Brothers' Milano Slim is noticeably slimmer than its regular Regent fit. Match the fits by description, not by name.
Do Charles Tyrwhitt and Brooks Brothers use the same collar sizes?
Yes. Both label dress shirts by collar size in inches, so your collar size carries over. The fit you choose decides how the chest and waist will sit.
Which fit should I buy if I'm between brands?
Start from your collar and sleeve, then pick the fit whose description matches your build. If your chest and waist don't line up with either brand's chart, that's a sign a custom shirt will fit you better.
